You’re Under Arrest! is an OVA (Original Video Animation) made in 1994. It’s a comedy/drama police show about two policewomen: Natsumi Tsujimoto and Miyuki Kobayakawa. At first these two were not happy to be working together (Natsumi is very laid back and quite brash, but Miyuki is very intelligent and rather shy), but the series follows them as they become good friends and effective partners within the traffic division at the Bokuto Police Precinct, Tokyo.

The story is about the whole department too - including Ken Nakajima, Yoriko Nikaido and “The Chief”. Together they deal with unruly drivers, awkward personal situations and the tough task of getting to work on time!

One of the things that makes You’re Under Arrest! stand out from other police shows is the way that it doesn’t focus as much on their role as cops, but more on the characters, and it doesn’t have the amount of criminals other cop shows might have: the most villainous person is someone speeding through a typhoon, and one of Natsumi’s most important missions is guiding a marathon! Though it does not have the action one might expect from a cop show, it is still very fun to watch the different characters and their personal antics.

You’re Under Arrest! is an incredibly fun OVA, with great characters and good animation. There’s no unsuitable content and it’s a very humorous series that I recommend to everybody.

The OVA series is the first in the You’re Under Arrest! Anime franchise, there is also two full length anime series, a special, a film and a manga. You’re Under Arrest! OVA was made in 1994 and directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi.
