Spirited Away is a fantasy film where a young girl named Chihiro gets lost in a world filled with spirits. The story focuses around her trying to rescue her parents (who have been transformed into pigs) and get back to her own world. To survive in this world, she is forced to get a job at a bath house for spirits - spending her time serving the various spirit customers, and assisting her co-worker Lin. She gains a friend in Haku, who appears to be a young boy enslaved by Yubaba (the bathhouse matriarch witch).

One of the brilliant things about Spirited Away is the wondrous creativity throughout the film, especially the different fantastical creatures that appear: the mysterious "No Face" - a masked spirit who just gives gold away to anyone who will take it - or the stinking spirit who you can practically smell from this side of the screen! We also see beings like Boh the giant baby - forbidden to go outside of his room despite his massive size, through fear he may fall victim to germs - and Kamajii - a bushy-moustached, eight-armed man who operates the boilers in the depths of the great building.

Despite all her troubles, Chihiro spends a lot of time trying to help Haku. They both feel like they know each other - though neither can remember how - so Chihiro does her best to help him discover his past.

Spirited Away is excellently made; it has lovely animation, a brilliant soundtrack and a heart warming story. It has won many awards, such as the second Oscar ever awarded for best animated picture. it was the first Anime to win an Academy Award, and is the highest grossing film in Japanese history! It contains absolutely no unsuitable content and is a must watch to every Anime fan.

Spirited Away was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli and the run time is 124 minutes.
