Thanksfully it's been a while since we've had to mention an anime release in terms of it receiving a cut from the BBFC, with shows like Highschool of the Dead, Dance in the Vampire Bund and Strike Witches all making it through the censors uncut.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of a forthcoming MVM Entertainment release, as we now have confirmation that Ikki Tousen - Dragon Destiny has received a significant cut for its UK DVD release.

Thankfully, the cut in question isn't applied to any of the main episodes of the series itself, but rather one of the extras; a DVD special entitled "Seito's Monster Boobs", which has received a whopping two minute, forty-nine second cut - a cut which is all the larger given that the extra in question is only a little over three minutes itself, leaving only twenty-two seconds of video intact.

The scene under scrutiny features an unquestionably young girl naked in a bath house alongside a number of other members of the cast, with the girl in question prodding, probing, touching and generally commenting on the other character's breasts. To this end, the cut is explained by the following note on the BBFC's web site:

Cuts required to DVD extras for an anime series, to remove sight of an animated naked child presented in a sexualised manner, within a sexualised context, and which has the potential to encourage a sexual interest in children. Cuts made in line with BBFC Guidelines and policy, and the Video Recordings Act 1984.

Given the size of the cut, we'd imagine that this extra will now be removed from the final release entirely, but will this cut affect your enjoyment or willingness to buy the release given that it only pertains to one of the DVD's extras? Let us know your thoughts in our comments section.
