Long story short I've had to scale back my veg patch for this year.

I have however begun this years planting

I already have garlic going strong in the back garden.

Now the first of this years tomato crop have germinated. As have the first basil and oregano plants. I also have begun to try and grow some lettuce. I am also intending to grow purple carrots and I'm looking into gem/acorn squash varieties.

I have attempted to over winter my chilli plant. Weather it has survived or not I shall get 2 more chilli plants as I had a lot of success with them last year Very Happy

looking forward to this year's crop news / garden diary and photos - last year's was cool.

Anything new that you're trying, Kyle, or anything you will be trying/have plans to attempt this year?

My garlic is going strong. It is planted out with blue bells and snow drops under some trees (and looks great).

I've got 4 varieties of tomatoes already planted out.

I've got four 'satans kiss' chilli plants and one 'scotch bonnet' chilli this year (yes I do pick what chillies I grow by name).

My herbs and flowers that bring in benificial insects are growing strong.

My two varieties of acorn squash are just starting to go out (some now some in a few weeks).

This year I'm also trying to grow purple carrots. The first batch have germinated. I will plant a second and third batch 4 weeks apart.

Pics will come later in the year.

Just to revive my thread

Last year was a bad year for gardening. A very good start but a damp cloudy august lead to poor harvests. Sad

But to this year, I'm thinking about

Purple carrots
Garlic
chilli
Herbs
Maybe Parsnips
maybe broccoli?
